Bobbins that look alike are not always interchangeable. This table lists what each manufacturer states in the machine’s manual or, where the manual is silent, on its own product page. Where neither states it, the cell says so.

Before you buy bobbins
- Singer warns that Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look alike, but the wrong one can damage the machine.[13]
- Brother says to use only SA156 bobbins or the same type; other bobbins may damage the machine.[1]
- Janome says to use its “J” bobbins for the horizontal hook.[12]
